Shuffle Location and Prediction by Miku W.

A shuffle principle designed to fool magicians.

The magician begins by removing a prediction card. The spectator freely selects a card and returns it to the deck. The magician performs a riffle shuffle, which mysteriously stops halfway through. The shuffle stops exactly at the spectator's selection. The three resulting packets are then turned over, and their values match the prediction card from the beginning.

Two different handling methods are included.

Riffle Location and Prediction: An almost self-working card trick that relies on a simple gimmick to achieve the final effect.

Pause Location and Prediction: No Gimmick. Can be performed with a borrowed deck. Simple sleight of hand.

Performance transcript:

  • I start by taking out a prediction card.
  • Then have the spectator freely cut a packet onto the table.
  • This is the spectator's free cut.
  • Have the spectator remember the card they cut to.
  • Replace it.
  • Now I'll try to locate the spectator's card.
  • Interlace the two packets with a Riffle Shuffle.
  • Watch closely. 3, 2, 1.
  • The shuffle suddenly stops halfway through.
  • And I happen to stop right at the spectator's selection, the 4 of Hearts.
  • The stopping point happens to divide the deck into three packets.
  • At the beginning, I placed a prediction card.
  • It was the Ace of Spades.
  • It stops at these three packets.
  • And it happens to stop at the other three Aces.
