You show four cards which have red backs on both sides. They change to blue backs, then to four queens with different colored backs, none of them having a red back.

You present three blank cards and a Joker. The Joker has a big hole located close to a corner. The hole magically moves to the center, then vanishes entirely, and then the four cards change into the four Jacks with no holes showing anywhere.

You start with four cards that are blank on both sides. A magic gesture and they have suddenly backs and faces.

A beautiful sleight-of-hand version of oil and water without any secret additional cards or gaffed cards. You start with four red-backed red cards and four blue-backed black cards. You fairly mix them and they immediately unmix. You exchange one card from the top of each packet the rest of the cards in each packet mysteriously follows. You show the cards from both sides. At the end with the colors separated they suddenly mix themselves into alternating red and black cards.

Another stunning sleight-of-hand version of oil and water without any secret additional cards or gaffed cards. You start with four red cards and four black cards. You fairly mix them and they immediately unmix. Do this multiple times in quick succession.

You show a packet of four black kings with blue backs and you place them face-down on the table. You further show four red queens. Waving the queens face-up over the face-down kings suddenly turns them all face-down as well. Another magical gesture and the four red queens are now four black kings. You place the packs together and suddenly the cards magically mix. Finally, you show all cards individually as totally normal except that the backs of the queens have now suddenly turned to red. No additional cards. No double-facers and no double-backers or other gimmicked cards.

Show four ten-spot cards all with red backs. Showing them again reveals a four of Spades with a big black dot on its face. Then there are several four of Spades with a big black dot. Suddenly a card has a different back but also a huge hole cut in the middle. When this card is turned face-up it reveals yet a different card. It is madness. Best to watch the demo video.

Reprint is too kind a word, rip-off is more appropriate since this was an unauthorized republication of Hoffmann's material. This is not identical to the card sections in Hoffmann's other books such as Modern Magic etc. But this book has been released in sections under the titles Card Tricks With Apparatus and Card Tricks Without Apparatus since 1893. It appears Hoffmann was not too happy about breaking it up into parts.

A card routine that is murder. This ain’t your usual card trick. Anyone who knows Shane and his work knows he likes to tell stories with my magic. Old stories, new stories, morality tales, dirty jokes...it’s all brain fodder as far as he's concerned. Therefore, it shouldn’t come as a shock that “Cut!” is story.
