theories and experiments have been, frankly, beyond me.

So what I have attempted to do with this book, is to at least let their voices be heard by focusing on the more clear and concise of studies. I am not quite sure why they did what they did, however I do know a good story when I read one. And some of the things herein both amuse me, and horrify me in equal measure.

I hope you find this treatise at least a little fascinating and please keep this knowledge and the thought processes behind it, alive.

Jon Racherbaumer

Jon Racherbaumer... under the sign of Aquarius. His early years were spent in Elmhurst, Illinois (Harlan Tarbell's hometown), a western suburb of Chicago. His interest in magic was sparked by seeing Dr. Tarbell perform in 1950. Soon thereafter, he received his first magic book, Tarbell Course in Magic - Volume 1, on his eleventh birthday. After discovering that Dr. Tarbell had donated his entire course to the local library, Jon spent many hours diligently studying each volume along with other magic books in the library.

Magical Experiments

Arthur Good
Magical Experiments by Arthur Good

The best way of learning new things is doing them. Magical Experiments or Science in Play is a fascinating collection of kitchen table top experiments with every day household goods. Many of which have a 'magical' twist to them, in the sense that it is for the unfamiliar observer not quite clear how these tricks are performed, or what the physical mechanisms behind them are. More than 150 experiments are described with gorgeous lithographs. This book was originally written in French and later translated to English. This in itself is a proof of quality, otherwise the translation would not have...

From The Other Side by Daniel Young

Turn your Himber wallet, or more precisely your mini-Himber wallet, into a versatile weapon!

Daniel has been very uncertain whether or not to release this ebook. Mainly because it is hard to market, because you will know the secret before you even buy it, or so you think. "Alright, just a bunch of effects with a Himber wallet." But trust him when he says, this is not what you think it is. The few people who have actually read this so far, are all intrigued by it. It all started with one realisation, a concept that sprung to mind, a handling of the Himber wallet that has never been seen before....

The Magic of Memory

The Magic of Memory by Thomas Harrington

A number of effects in magic, and in life, succeed because one person is doing something mentally that other people assume is beyond human capacity. This ebook explores one such phenomenon--memory for numbers, items and events. Over the course of several thousand years a procession of mnemonics pioneers have successively augmented human power to deal with numbers by evolving a collection of clever ways to think more effectively about them. These methods, largely unknown to the general population, have the potential for greatly expanding human mental capacity. For instance, the average human’s...

Exhibition rope spinning is a hundred-year-old American sport with strong Mexican roots, born amid the sights, sounds, smells and excitement of the great American West. One of the best of the old-time champion rope spinners was Chester Byers. When he wrote this book, he had behind him twenty years' experience of spinning his rope into rolls, figure 8's and zigzags in stampedes, rodeos, roundups and frontier days all over the country. He has a good way with words too, and if you'll follow his directions, you'll soon find yourself managing the rope like an old hand.

"The Man at the Crossroads" is a close-up routine based on a uniquely American form of folk magic known as "hoodoo". D. Angelo Ferri

D. Angelo Ferri... Ferri's aka Dennis Barlotta's interest in magic began with a gift from his father, a set of plastic cups and balls purchased from a novelty shop in Times Square. Years later, after military service, he discovered Tannen’s Magic Shop on Broadway and Al Flosso’s. He was drawn to close-up magic. One day he met a man at Tannen’s. He did a version of Slydini’s Coins Through the Table for Dennis. He suggested Dennis purchase The Magic of Slydini by Lewis Ganson, which he immediately did.

Dennis abandoned everything he had learned about magic and started over. He studied Slydini’s routines for one year, on his own; then sought him out for lessons.

His studio was on 341 West 45th...
