Frances Marshall

Born Frances Marie Ahrens Vandevier. Learned magic in 1931 clerking at L.L. Ireland's magic shop in Chicago. Married Ireland in 1940. Widowed in Apr 1954, she married Jay Marshall three months later. Pro dealer (Magic, Inc.) in Chicago. 1973 AMA Literary Fellowship. SAM Hall of Fame. 1989 AMA Lifetime Achievement Fellowship. 1996 Christopher Lifetime Achievement Award
Edited Kid Stuff (6 vols, 1954-74), The Sponge Book (1960, 43pp), The Success Book (3 vols, 1973, with Jay Marshall), Dr. Harlan Tarbell (1956), Come Out Flying (1974, 52pp), etc. Wrote Chicago news columns in Linking Ring, New Tops, and Magic Manuscript (since 1989). Memoirs are You Don't Have to Be Crazy (1946, 202pp, writing as Frances Ireland), With Frances in Magicland (1952, 133pp), and My First Fifty Years (1981, 68pp).
