Welcome to the first volume of Psuedo Chronicles. The goal of these notes and this series is to showcase effects that mimic real mind reading or extraordinary skill with playing cards. None of the effects contained herein require any sleight of hand beyond a beginner level. That being said, do not under estimate the power of these effects. Here is an act that I sincerely concede as being the best all-around modus operandi ever offered to the profession. The strong point is that this effect is done in real time. The original effect was sold in the Sphinx for $50.00 back in the 40s. By today's standards it would be almost $800.00. It was later improved by psychic Jason Michaels and used during his career. The effect is as follows: The performer passes out small cards on which spectators are requested to write their questions and sign their full name. This completed, cards are collected by performer, placed in small envelopes and sealed. ...

Predict a matched pair from a spectator shuffled deck. The deck can be freely shuffled and cut as often as the spectator wishes.

The methodology is somewhat involved because you need a billet index, a gimmicked envelope, and a marked deck. You could do without the gimmicked envelope but the rest you will need. Nevertheless, the effect is strong.

Here is a new close-up psychic trick, using a new method, not used before to create this type of effect. You do this using a short tube cut from a regular opaque straw. It is ungimmicked. Also three ordinary wooden matches are colored to give you three different colored match sticks, red, blue and green. The matches sticks are all the same length.
