This lightweight mental effect is suitable for close up, parlor or even stage and is very simple to do. A map is shown which has six named locations marked on it. A spectator mentally selects one and records his choice on a small card which is concealed in an envelope. Cards bearing the names of the six locations are shuffled by a spectator and placed by him entirely at random into six envelopes which are then given out to audience members. Despite all this, a prediction shown at the start leads to the correct person holding the envelope which contains the spectator's chosen island location. ...

The performer selects a lady with the object of discovering whether she has female intuition or not. Spreading a pile of envelopes, each one of which contains a double blank card, he invites her to select any one and to remove the card from inside.

The lady helper now nominates and names any person around the table who she is emotionally close to or with whom she feels she has some empathy. It could be a relative, a close friend or maybe even her husband! Let's say she selects a close friend called Sophie.

She writes the name of her chosen person, Sophie, on the back of her chosen blank...

Psychic Selection - a parlour routine in which a spectator cuts to a card that he has in his mind

An envelope is shown and a single card removed from inside, but not shown. The envelope is otherwise empty. This card is a prediction and is replaced into the envelope and left in view. Six Jumbo cards are freely and openly displayed and various spectators are asked to choose any of the cards to eliminate until just one is left.

Despite the fact that there is genuinely no force or selection control, the prediction card exactly matches the randomly arrived at selection.

This direct effect is ideal for a close-up or parlor show.

Predict a matched pair from a spectator shuffled deck. The deck can be freely shuffled and cut as often as the spectator wishes.

The methodology is somewhat involved because you need a billet index, a gimmicked envelope, and a marked deck. You could do without the gimmicked envelope but the rest you will need. Nevertheless, the effect is strong.

Sweet: Several spectators (8-10) attempt to guess how many candies are in a jar. The performer hands a coin to one of two participants who have been randomly selected from an audience. The performer explains that in a moment they shall all play a game of truth or lies. The performer turns around so they are facing away from the participants. They then ask the participants to switch the coin between themselves multiple times and when finished to finally hide it in one of their hands so that the performer does not know who has possession of the coin or which hand it is in.

In a row on a tray stand five differently colored tissue paper bags. Two members of the audience are invited to participate in a little game. Each of the tissue paper bags has been screwed over at the top. Four of the bags, states the magician, contain crumpled pieces of paper. The fifth one contains something of value.
