A Few Good Methods

David Devlin
A Few Good Methods by David Devlin

Transpositions are a staple in magic. The basic effect is simple: two objects switch places. That is it. What David has done in this eBook is that he has come up with five different ways to accomplish the transposition of selected playing cards.

The methods range from super easy to...well...not hard but not as super easy as some of the others. Some of the methods are totally impromptu, while others require a small amount of setup.

Those of you who are familiar with David's work already know that he does not like difficult sleights or overly complicated methods. So, you will not find any...

  • IMPROMPTU Lucky ACAAN (Card at Lucky Number, with a borrowed and shuffled deck!)

It's a new series of hands-off self-working card magic effects, that will all happen in your viewer's hands. No particular skill is required, just the ability to instruct and pay attention to what the viewer is doing... In this third...

Kollectors Revisited

Andrew Loh
Kollectors Revisited by Andrew Loh

This is one of Andrew's favourite routines. He has been performing Kollectors Revisited for many years in his act and he regards this effect as his pet routine.

This effect plays big and best of all, it's impromptu and can be performed with a borrowed deck.

In addition, if you are going to perform card magic that has great impact to layman, this effect is for you. This effect involves three freely selected cards and they can be signed. You cause their signed selections to vanish into thin air and magically, the selections appear in a very magical manner.

unique, something out of the ordinary.

A good part of this book was included in Jean Hugard's Encyclopedia of Card Tricks, but not everything. A comparison of what has been included in Hugard's work and what not can be found in A Comparison of the Gravatt and Hugard Encyclopedias of Card Magic by William Rugh.

This is one of the harder to find and quite expensive books on card magic, because only a small run of mimeographed copies was ever offered for sale. As the author himself admits, the original books are of poor quality rendering many pages very hard to read:

Practical Mental Effects by Ted Annemann

This book packs almost 200 mental miracles, many of which are creations of one of the masters of mental magic - Ted Annemann. You will find the best book tests, psychic codes, tricks with slates, blindfold reading, publicity effects, and much more. This book together with Annemann's Card Magic covers a good part of the famous Jinx magazine, of which Annemann was editor.

Paul Fleming wrote:

Annemann's Full Deck of Impromptu Card Tricks, which made its appearance about a year ago, has been enjoying a well deserved popularity ever since. There is no reason to suppose that Annemann's Practical Mental Effects, compiled in the main...
