Paul A. Lelekis
Classic Card Magic I by Paul A. Lelekis

This e-book is the very first of a series of e-books to come, presenting my own versions of the classics of card magic. These simple, straight-forward plots will cover the gamut of card magic in this series of upcoming Classic Card Magic e-books.

Please keep up with this Classic Card Magic series and you will have a very strong base for your card magic performances, and a very nice array of magic effects...not just a "pick-a-card-find-a-card" type of theme.

I have brought some of the plots and patter, up to date...but in no way have I changed the bare essence of the effects or plots. Every...

David Devlin
B'tween by David Devlin

David Devlin has floored everyone he has shown this incredible effect. Even members of his family were nailed. This is an amazing piece of mental magic. Based on an array of different effects and principles, this is certain to go into your working repertoire. It is self-working and can even be performed impromptu (at least the majority of the effect can be performed impromptu)!

The effect is this: A deck is shuffled, and two predictions are made on the backs of two business cards. One is a number and the other is the name of a playing card. Two spectators deal cards in turn until they each...

(Jerry) J. K. Hartman
Packet Magic by (Jerry) J. K. Hartman

From the introduction:

The title suggests that the routines to be described solely involve small packets of cards. To that extent, it is inaccurate. Many of the routines utilize the full deck in varying degrees. The excuse is that they center around small groups of cards which by themselves are identifiable as packets, and thus can be combined in longer sequences with routines using those groups alone.

Small packet routines seem to have a certain niceness and precision about them and thus have a particular fascination for cardmen. Fortunately, laymen are generally impressed as well, ascribing...

R. Kunard
The Book of Card Tricks by R. Kunard

From the preface:

In offering this collection of Card Tricks to the public it has been my endeavour to make every particular as clear as possible to the uninitiated. It will readily be granted that practical illustration must be vastly superior to the most carefully-written description of anything which, at the same time, requires both rapidity and neatness in execution; yet it appears to me that, if in the following pages I have been successful in making the most intricate trick clear in the manner of its manipulation, proper practice for the acquirement of ease and certainty will do the...

A Bumblebee's Flight by Michel Cayrol & Jean-Marie Beckers

This is an important improvement of the classic Kruskal principle. Think about this: The spectator can shuffle the deck and you still know exactly where the count will end!

This ebook contains a new principle on Kruskal-counting and illustrates the principle with two effects. The first effect A Bumblebee’s Flight will lead the spectator’s dealing sequence invariably to a known/predicted card, even after a shuffle by the spectator. A version for cards taken out of a sealed box and shuffled twice by spectators is also provided. Performance and explanation videos by Tomas Blomberg are linked...

Gerard Zitta
Err by Gerard Zitta
"I think your routine is very good. I may use it a couple times myself." - Brian T. Lees (a.k.a. Topper)
[Although different, the plot can be seen as a variation of an article in Abraca-Poof! - December 2016 that can also be found on lybrary.com. Brian T. Lees digged up an unreferenced gem buried somewhere in one of Aldo Colombini's DVDs.

Effect:

You produce a deck of cards and hand it to a spectator. (You will not touch it or see it any more). The spectator shuffles the deck, selects a card, folds it and puts a rubber band or a paper clip tight around it. Despite these lab conditions, you try to guess their card! And believe it or not, you will always succeed. Their card can be given back as a souvenir. It does...

David Devlin
Distorted Siblings by David Devlin

Distorted Siblings combines the best aspects of several tricks by John Bannon, Max Maven, and Aldo Colombini. The routine is this:

A packet of red-backed cards and a packet of blue-backed cards are placed face-down on the table. It is explained that each packet contains the four kings and that one in each packet is face-up as a prediction. Two spectators each name a king. The named kings are in fact the face up kings. The kings are turned face down and it is shown that each king is in their opposite packets.

Each king is then placed back into its own packet. All four blue cards are together as are the red cards,...

Brick Tilley
Eye Candy by Brick Tilley

The spectator selects, remembers, and returns a card to the deck. Without any unnecessary handling the performer counts down to its value, then spells the suit. The selected card is turned over at the end of this counting/spelling sequence.

Based on a trick by Frederick Mosteller in 1943 that used two decks. This is a streamlined and more commercial one deck version.

Enrico Varella
Memorable Mentalism: Mysteries With the Mnemonic Deck by Enrico Varella

"The only people who speak of the difficulties of the memorising a deck of cards are those who've never seriously tried to learn one." - Simon Aronson

Would it be useful to you if you knew the identity of the top card of a shuffled deck? What if you knew both the identity of the top and bottom cards of a shuffled deck in use? If you know the identity of four cards on the top of a shuffled deck, how would you apply this knowledge? Would you desire to demonstrate that you can speed memorise a packet of cards within seconds? Now, imagine this: You know the identity of every card in an entire...

Jon Racherbaumer
Super-Cuts by Jon Racherbaumer

The methods explained in this manuscript involve cutting a deck to ostensibly change its order. They are semi-automatic because minimal dexterity is required. Otherwise they are subtle in seductive ways and all of them are completely or partially false.

The false cut triggering this manuscript is Jay Ose's False Cut that was auspiciously introduced to magicians by Harry Lorayne. This false cut eventually made its way into the repertoires of card specialists, but early on it was primarily meant to be easily and quickly performed after false shuffling. It was to the point, expressing a pleasing, sixbeat...

Aldo Colombini
Baroque Compositions by Aldo Colombini

  • Vivace: You deal the Kings into four packets and they assemble in one packet. On top of each pile the four Aces appear.
  • Aria: An Ace-Assembly that's easy to perform, direct and to-the-point, with a magical and surprising climax.
  • Sarabanda: The two black Kings find two selected cards from a deck cut into three piles by a spectator.
  • Concerto: The four Jacks disappear and find three cards in the middle of the deck. One indicates the value of a selection, the second the suit and the...

Aldo Colombini
Perpetual Motion Poker Deal by Aldo Colombini

This effect was created by Bruce Cervon who gave Aldo permission to teach and release it. It is a wonderfully simple and unique poker deal demonstration that never has to be reset, because at the end of the routine the deck is ready for a repeat - ideal for table hoppers. Uses a regular deck of cards with an additional set of aces.

Aldo also teaches a number of easy false cuts and shuffles which you can use in combination with this demonstration, but they are not necessary. With a good presentation this can be just as effective as other story routines, such as "Sam and Moe" or "Sam and the Bellhop",...
