Harry Houdini spent a good part of his life exposing mediums and 'unexplainable' phenomena. In this booklet he describes the case of the Boston "Margery" and the prize the Scientific American put up for true paranormal effects. He not only clearly describes and demonstrates the tricks of this very clever medium but also tells the difficulties surrounding the actual exposure. The basic effect as seen by your spectators is that you can read minds and see through the cards as if you had X-ray eyes.

• The deck can be shuffled
• You never know the spectator's card
• You never look at the faces of the cards after the selection is made
• No multiple outs
• No special decks or props required

You will get two wonderful effects which are almost self-working because all the things you do seem so natural and imperceptible. The effects will require almost no effort on your part. You show three candle holders on a table, each with a candle in it. A sheet of clear glass is placed around them and the candles are visibly lighted. The center one is referred to as the sacred light. Anything passed through the flame will not burn hands or other objects. Even flash paper will not be set off by the flame!

The sacred light is removed from the alter and caused to vanish. It immediately reappears back in the holder lighted! Finally, the candle vanishes completely leaving no trace behind.

The four aces are removed from a red backed deck. The Ace of Spades is placed on top of the red deck as the three other aces are lost one by one into a blue deck. After a magical gesture, the aces disappear from the blue backed deck and reappear on top of the red deck, under the Ace of Spades!

In this short release Grant explains several methods for creating the effect of an invisible man on stage. The invisible man is heard walking out on stage and wearing a hat, but no visible body; which the performer removes. He is heard to converse with the performer and even rock in a rocking chair. Just a gag! But with all those which hand tricks, it's a change. It can be an opener or a closer to a more serious which hand routine, or in case somebody asks you to redo a which hand trick, or if somebody is giving you a hard time with methods that are not 100% safe.

Effect:

You ask a spectator to put a small ball in any hand while your back is turned, and then, to put their hands on each side of your head, behind your back. You will guess in which hand they hold the ball.

This trick starts out as a display of the power of chance. A card is selected by the roll of dice. The magician doesn't know what the card even is. He spreads the cards and picks four random cards face down. One of the four cards is picked randomly, and the magician declares that it will be the card the spectator picked. When its not the right card, the magician makes up for it by making the card first disappear from the deck entirely, and reappear in his shoe.
