This is an overhand shuffle that allows you to retain cards in their respective half. Say you have all black cards in the top half of the deck and all red cards in the bottom half of the deck. This shuffle will keep all the red and black cards together. But it is not a complete false shuffle, because each half by itself is shuffled. This is a very useful move for effects like Out Of This World, Oil and Water, and other others.

This is a reputation maker routine. It uses a regular deck of cards and it is totally impromptu. You show the four Kings and four black cards. The Kings are placed one by one among the black cards. They disappear and reappear in one packet. Then the Kings are paired up with the four black cards. The Kings disappear and you are left with eight black cards. Finally, you produce the Kings one by one using different stunning methods. Over a dozen effects!

Jack Spade is a private investigator trying to solve the case of the stolen diamond ring. Told through the revelations of a pack of playing cards, this is a story-deck routine that acts as the finish to Stephen's close-up, parlour and stage shows.

One of Martin's favorite routines. This has been one of the most popular routines for Martin's lectures. It concludes with a 13 minute sandwich routine that keeps the audience continually guessing. Available again for the first time in 25 years!

To open, you begin by honestly cutting the four Aces from a shuffled pack in the fairest manner possible. This effect grabs their interest immediately and establishes you as an expert.

The red and black Aces then transpose with each other in an amazing fashion, via Martin's treatment of Dr. Daley's Last Trick. You then go into a poker dealing routine. ...

A commercial gambling routine.

Darwin starts with a little false dealing demonstration dealing seconds and then thirds, fourths or fifths. He continues to show how a cheat could use such dealing techniques. He attempts to deal the four Jacks to himself starting with the Jacks as the top four cards. However, he ends up dealing the four Jacks to his opponent and - as a climax - reveals that he has dealt himself the four aces.

Darwin teaches an easy faux 3rd-, 4th-, 5th- deal. You will need to be able to deal seconds. You will also need to be able to cull cards and do a Braue addition.

Effect:
Two red Jacks are placed on the table. A card is freely selected and signed before it is lost in the deck. One of the Jacks is placed on top of the deck and the other on the bottom of the deck. The magician waves his hand over the deck, magically, the first Jack vanishes and upon flipping over the deck, the second Jack seems to have vanished, too. The deck is spread and a face-down card is trapped in between the Jacks and this proves to be the spectator's selection.

Personally I find any trick using a swastica not a particularly good idea today, because the swastica is loaded with meaning not necessarily appropriate for entertainment. But we should not forget that this manuscript was originally written in the 1940s.

The gem in my opinion is the last effect, "The All Clear Card Transformation."

Four Jokers mysteriously vanish from one place and reappear in another...

The cards certainly appear ordinary...but your audience will be rubbing its eyes as four bicycle-riding Kings disappear right off the faces of four Jokers one at a time and reappear on the faces of previously blank cards. It even happens when a spectator places their finger on one of the blank cards!

Here in more details what the spectators see:

Two packets of cards are introduced, one containing four Jokers, the other four blank-faced cards. One Joker is set aside as a "leader card" and the others are tabled....
