Thirty Card Mysteries is the most important work Charles T. Jordan published. Several card moves and ideas are credited to Charles T. Jordan. The most well known one is the Jordan Count. In this book he details moves like a single card reverse or half pack reverse. He describes spelling tricks and the effect Coluria is probably the first magical use of a bracelet code (much more on this binary code can be found in Leo Boudreau’s work).

A spectator selects a card and signs it. You put the entire deck in the box to remove all possibility of sleight of hand. The card is inserted into the middle of the pack in the box with its face and signature to the spectators, pushed flush, and the box is closed. You turn the box horizontal and casually turn it over a few times with open fingers to show that both sides are clean and clear. This is a system to easily remember one or two cards, say two key cards, and not forget them during the performance of your routine. It is not an associative memory system.

Some card routines, particularly the recently published ones in Sunken Treasury by Nick Conticello require one to remember two key cards. In the heat of performing such an effect these can be forgotten, rendering the trick a failure. This system allows you to easily keep track of one or two or more cards that you want to remember.

There is very little to learn for this system. Reading this manuscript should be enough to put this system to work....

The magician presents to the spectator a deck of blue backed cards and shows that this is just a regular deck of 52 cards. The magician places the deck, face up, on a table. This is the last time that the magician will touch the deck.

The magician invites the spectator to cut the deck approximately in half and place it next to the original pile. The spectator is then invited to select one of the two piles which is then put to one side.

In his debut work, Cristian Vidrascu tackles the Ultra Mental Deck, better known to contemporary magicians as the Invisible Deck.
