The English magazine Pabular was first published in 1974 by Nick Bolton and ran for just over eight exciting volumes. It was mainly edited by the well respected Fred Robinson (later by Walt Lees and Stephen Tucker) and the art editor throughout was the talented Eric Mason. These are the lectures notes for a lecture Aldo gave at FISM.

Tip Top: the magician displays several cards bearing pictures of clowns, having different colored noses. A spectator selects a clown and the performer is seen to have the same colored clown nose... on his nose!

Poppy: a knot, tied in the middle of a piece of white rope, slides to one end, then the other; then change color. The different colored knot slides along the rope several times; the knot is then untied and seen to actually be a two inch section of the white rope.

Here Aldo performs and explains twelve effects from his Baroque Cards ebook. The twelve effects were selected by Rachel.

• Vivace: You deal the Kings into four packets and they assemble in one packet. On top of each pile the four Aces appear.
• Aria: An Ace-Assembly that's easy to perform, direct and to-the-point, with a magical and surprising climax.
• Sarabanda: The two black Kings find two selected cards from a deck cut into three piles by a spectator.
• Concerto: The four Jacks disappear and find three cards in the middle of the deck. One indicates the value of a selection, the second the suit and the...

This effect was created by Bruce Cervon who gave Aldo permission to teach and release it. It is a wonderfully simple and unique poker deal demonstration that never has to be reset, because at the end of the routine the deck is ready for a repeat - ideal for table hoppers. Uses a regular deck of cards with an additional set of aces.

Aldo also teaches a number of easy false cuts and shuffles which you can use in combination with this demonstration, but they are not necessary. With a good presentation this can be just as effective as other story routines, such as "Sam and Moe" or "Sam and the Bellhop",...

• You are the only one who knows!
• Seventh Floor: Seven cards are selected. One card is signed by the spectator and then all seven cards are lost in the deck. One by one, they are found by the performer. The signed card re-appears and then finally, it is found inside the pocket.
• Ace-mbly: You perform a Matrix effect with the Aces and four coins. The first time the coins gather under one Ace. The second time the coins do not move, but the pips of the cards do: Three Aces become blank and the fourth...

A coin trick done without coins, or a card trick done without regular playing cards. However you want to look at it - a pretty unusual trick.

You show four cards each with a quarter printed on its face. One by one the quarters vanish and reappear on one card which now has four quarters on it. The card is left on a spectator's palm and, while there, it changes into a card with a dollar coin on it.

[Note that you will receive a PDF and a video, but NO cards. The PDF includes a photo of the custom card faces, but you will have to make the cards yourself using stickers, transfers, hand-drawn or printing. You will need two double facers and three blank faced cards to start with.]

Excerpt from the introduction:

You place the Ace, Two, Three and Four of Clubs on the table in a square formation as is typically done with matrix-type effects. You cover two cards with two jumbo cards. One by one all the cards assemble under one jumbo card.

You try to repeat the 'assembly' without the jumbo cards but the regular cards do not move. You turn over three cards and they are seen to be all blank. The other card is the 10 of Clubs, the sum of all the cards!
