This is a 2-4-4 count developed by Ed Marlo. You show two cards at the same time, table them and then show the remaining two cards, all while you hide two of the four cards.

A fast-paced series of color changes. Blank cards turn into Jacks, change their backs twice, revert to blank cards, and then for the climax they turn into Jokers.

You will need some double-blank cards, Jacks with different backs, and Jokers with matching backs.

On August 2nd, 1982, Martin Breese organized a John Mendoza lecture, which was taped for later release as a video. But Martin being the busy publisher he was had so many other projects to work on that he never got around releasing this recording. We rescued the recording from two old Umatic tapes Martin gave to me. Since this was recorded in the early 80s do not expect a high definition video. But it is nevertheless a good recording of Mendoza's lecture. The video has some flaws here and there with stripes, ghost images, and an occasional blackout. The audio track has no noticeable blackouts or problems....

If you are searching for a visual 'packet style' card trick with normal (even borrowed) cards, then this is the trick for you. Three red numbered cards are removed from a regular deck of cards and all simultaneously shown to be normal cards. One at a time, each card changes into a Joker. The last change is the most visual of them all. The cards are clearly all shown to be jokers and instantly they change back into the original three normal red numbered cards.

A spectator selects an ace, say the Ace of Hearts. The magician explains that he made a prediction earlier, and shows a packet of four blue backed cards, apparently a single ace among three jokers. With a snap, the magician claims that he can make the selected ace turn face up. One card does reverse, but a joker. Despite this, the performer shows that he clearly has three jokers and only one ace: the selected ace, the Ace of Hearts! Jumper is a face up transposition of a card from one packet to another packet without the use of any gimmick cards. This is a very visual effect and another stunning creation by Alan Rorrison.

Just Absurd is an incredible effect halfway between an ACAAN and an impossible location. The magician shuffles the deck. The spectator cuts one third of the deck, he remembers the bottom card, and loses his packet somewhere into the middle of the deck.
