You proceed to a complete stranger and hand them a balloon, ask them their name and also to name any card they want. They do so and you ask them to give the balloon a shake. They will hear something inside. You burst the balloon and inside there is only one card, which of course...

A deck is shuffled. While the performer's back is turned, one spectator selects and remembers a card, which he then loses into the deck. No one knows where this card is. Its identity is known only to the spectator. Now, a second spectator merely thinks of a number. The performer mixes the cards further, and spreads them face up to show the cards to be completely mixed. The second spectator now, for the 1st time, reveals her thought of number. The spectator is handed the deck. She deals the cards one at a time until she reaches her thought of number. The card arrived at is the card being thought...

The effect as seen by the audience: The performer displays a red-backed deck and a blue-backed deck. Two participants each choose a deck freely. Then both participants mentally think of a different playing card each. They need not announce which card they are thinking of. Surprisingly, when each participant deals down their respective deck, they find their thought of card missing from that deck. As a kicker twist, each participant's thought of card is found in the other participant's deck.

Thirty Card Mysteries is the most important work Charles T. Jordan published. Several card moves and ideas are credited to Charles T. Jordan. The most well known one is the Jordan Count. In this book he details moves like a single card reverse or half pack reverse. He describes spelling tricks and the effect Coluria is probably the first magical use of a bracelet code (much more on this binary code can be found in Leo Boudreau’s work).

The Thirty Card Trick is a magical classic that can be done on stage as well as close up. It is entertaining to all types of audiences.
