This manuscript is about one trick that incorporates a seminal sorting procedure now given the name Belcho's Disbursive Deal. Over the years the trick eventually morphed into an organized compilation that shares the same identifiable title: "Poker Player's Picnic."

It begins with Vernon Lux, an enterprising amateur who founded the International Society of Junior Magician in 1931 and began a magazine called The Dragon in 1932. Therein Oscar Weigle had a column called "Themes and Schemes" where he explained a trick called "The Million to One Trick." (Later it was changed to "Belchou's Aces.") It's unclear...

WHAT IS THE PIANO TRICK?

A spectator places his hands palm down on the table in the same way a pianist places his hands on a keyboard. Then pairs of cards are placed between the spectator's fingers to set the stage. These pairs are then fairly removed to form two equal piles. An extra or "odd" card is added to one of the piles. Then, without any further movements or fanfare, the "odd" card inexplicably travels to the other pile.

Have you ever wanted to hypnotize someone to have a photographic memory? Now, you can create this illusion using a fantastic principle applied in an innovative way. This effect uses only a deck of playing cards (which can be borrowed, no set-up required at all...in fact, you don't even touch the cards). After the spectator randomly shuffles the deck, you ask her to quickly glance at each card. Under the premise of a hypnotic induction, you then cause her to remember the location of any cards. A demonstration of "Invisible Palming" leads to a selection magically traveling into a wallet the spectator is holding. As a kicker, the selection is actually inside a folded photocopy of a hand with the selection printed on it. Commercial magic at its best.

This is a very well thought out and carefully described torn-and-restored card effect. Seven alternate handlings are explained, plus you get a strong bonus effect.

Effect:
A card is freely selected; the spectator signs their name on the face of the card, and the magician signs his/her name on the back. An envelope is introduced, and the spectator is asked to open it up, and remove one of the pieces of paper it contains, and to examine it if they wish. Marraid: You cut the deck four times - each time a face up King appears. You now find a random card for each King by using their suits. When these cards are turned over they prove to be the four Queens - each paired perfectly with the correct King.

Few people know that there is a secret assistant in each deck of cards. “Secret Assistant” is a little helper for card magicians. It will definitely help you find the chosen card. The card can be signed. The gimmick can be used for other tricks. The gimmick requires various supplies to construct.

Automatic Aces
You shuffle a deck and then give it a spectator, who now carries out a series of random actions that result in him locating all four Aces.

Your invisible helpers become visible and then find a chosen card along with all the other cards of the same colour!

Natterjacks
You remove the four Jacks. A Card is selected and returned to the deck. The deck is cut into two halves - one remains on the table. The four Jacks are placed face up on the table half and cut into the middle. One by one the Jacks leave the tabled half and appear face up in the half in your hands....

This effect was created by Bruce Cervon who gave Aldo permission to teach and release it. It is a wonderfully simple and unique poker deal demonstration that never has to be reset, because at the end of the routine the deck is ready for a repeat - ideal for table hoppers. Uses a regular deck of cards with an additional set of aces.

Aldo also teaches a number of easy false cuts and shuffles which you can use in combination with this demonstration, but they are not necessary. With a good presentation this can be just as effective as other story routines, such as "Sam and Moe" or "Sam and the Bellhop",...
