Robert A. Nelson
(Columbus, Ohio: 16th November 1901 - 21st February 1973).
Inspired around age 10. Debut at age 13 with paid mental act. Semi-pro with partner with Syl Reilly until 1921. Pro as stage mentalist-telepathist since 1921 when founded Nelson Enterprises in Columbus, Ohio. It became the world's largest company dealing in mentalist's props and literature (until sold in 1972 to Micky Hades).
Radio program ("Voice of Destiny") 1928-35 as "Dr. Korda RaMayne, PsD", which he also used on stage in a crystal-gazing act. In the 1940s, after Claude "Alexander" Conlin Jr retired, Nelson bought his entire act, later selling most of it to Leon Mandrake.
Invented Multiplying Rabbits (by 1944) and claimed the Psychomatic Deck (by 1948). The most prolific author of books and booklets on mentalism (34 by 1945 alone), including Hellstromism (1935, 21pp), The Encyclopedia of Mentalism (1944, 120pp; repr 1971), Miracles in Mentalism (1945, 64pp), Super Prediction Tricks (1947, 55pp), The Art of Cold Reading (1951; repr 1971, 47pp), Club and Party Mentalism (1961, 50pp), Still More Miracles in Mentalism (1962, 74pp), Comedy Mentalism (3 vols, 1962, 1963, 1964, 59+61+63pp), TV Mentalism (1966, 37pp), and The Last Book of Nelson: An Autobiography, Plus (1970, 55pp).
