... carnival theme by a professional graphic artist, this demonstration intrigues the viewer. Then you might consider giving the game board to the viewer (with your marketing information on the back of course) for him/her to demonstrate to their friends.
Alternatively you can sketch the game board impromptu style on a napkin, piece of scrap paper, or with a stick on the ground. It is super simple and only needs a couple of lines.
A stunning double revelation for which the spectator does (almost) all the work for you. From a shuffled deck, a spectator cuts to two cards in two different sections and loses them into that deck. Yet, the magician is able to locate both.
This version of Max Maven/Phil Goldstein's "Double Overcut" eliminates the original full-deck setup and is basically impromptu.
With 1000s of magic routines available, why do many magician's perform the same routines, without any change, modification or effort to make those routines unique?
The Creative Mind is simply Don Bursell's ideas for creating new routines, brainstorming new variations, and keeping track of those ideas.
The 2nd half are tricks that Don has created over the years, and based on advice from Jon Racherbaumer, wrote them down so as not to forget them. One of them, Headmover, has been an odd signature piece of Don's programs for over 20 years. Another routine, The Needles, is Don's solution...
In selecting these Secrets, I have endeavoured to interest the Fraternity at large. Whether you are a manipulator, impromptu or spectacular worker I trust you will find herein some secret that will add to your reputation as a magician.
The secrets are chosen from over 300 which I classified when writing The Whirlwind of Wizardry and while many are not complete tricks or effects in themselves they are just what adds that little extra touch of smartness to an act, or that little effect to fill up a break.
Three more stunning, completely impromptu card gems from Ian Baxter. Taking It Easy is reason enough to acquire this manuscript. You won't ever find a smoother, easier version of The Lazy Magician than this. Simple, concise and with a first rate presentation slant, as are two other mysteries ... Guide Card and Jump.
"Moment's Notice contained a superb collection of impromptu card effects. In this second volume, Cameron has done it again ... in fact, this second volume might even be better than the first, if that is at all possible!" - Peter Duffie
"This is the kind of material I like, not difficult to do and with the EFFECT in mind!" - Aldo Colombini
"Cameron's material from the Moment's Notice series makes me want to go for a swim in Antarctica. It's that freakin hot!" - Donny Orbit
"I didn't want Moment's Notice 1 to end. This one picks up perfectly where the last left of. Filled with brilliantly commercial impromptu effect ready...
The title of this little brochure indicates its contents. Simple Tricks and simple tricks only. No apparatus is required and but little sleight-of-hand is needed in the performance of any of them. They consist of a series of tricks and problems, easily acquired, suitable for gatherings round the table on winter evenings. Some of them are new and many are old; but even the oldest are new to the rising generation. For six of the latest tricks, - "A Hindu Swindle," "The Elusive Match," "A Subtle Impromptu Effect with a Coin," "A Novel Card Effect," "An Artful Card Force," and...
A totally impossible memory effect, plus, as a climax, cutting to the four aces. One of the greatest secrets of Joseph B. Certainly a magician fooler. The effect is structured in three phases, one more surprising than the other. All this with a borrowed and totally impromptu deck. It sounds unbelievable. It is unbelievable, a really charming and sneaky method.
Here is a deceptive and easy-to-do card control. You can really see the selection shuffled back into the deck, but somehow the magician is able to locate and control it. No preparation and no setup is needed. Everything is done completely impromptu and with a borrowed shuffled deck. No crimps or gimmicks are used. A real weapon to add to your arsenal of card magic.
... Ed's expressed wishes, keeping his material available "for the guys."
As with Wesley's previous releases, M.I.N.T. III - M.I.N.T. V, these long-unavailable Marlo articles could have been all Wesley compiled. Such a volume would have been an important contribution to the literature of card magic. As a tribute to Ed, Wesley wanted these volumes to offer more. So, Wesley has added, as he has with the other volumes, clarifications, corrections - both logical and grammatic - plus his own personal Notes. Some Notes are complimentary, some critical, some revolutionary, all are highly informative.

- Darren Purshall
S.H.I.EL.D.

As Wesley has often stated, "One can't perform card magic without a tip of the hat to Ed Marlo." Wesley's friend of more than 25 years, Ed Marlo inspired a wealth of material that Wesley developed, massaged, enhanced and adapted through his performance experience. Among Wesley's creations are full routines inspired by the Marlo techniques, built on...
A detailed explanation and breakdown of how to back palm a playing card.
The author shows the aspiring card magician how to make playing cards appear and disappear from and into thin air using a sleight-of-hand technique known as back palming. Many photos assist in comprehending this at-first difficult-looking move. But with a bit of practice, it is within reach for any dedicated student.
This technique is typically used on stage but it can also delight in an impromptu setting close-up and it can be done with other thin flat objects besides playing cards, such as business cards, credit...
No skill, no sleights, no manipulation is required to perform the following effects. Many are impromptu, making use of anyone's cards, and needing no preparation or make-ready. Others admittedly depend upon such chicanery as cards with double faces and blank faces, double backs and blank backs, roughing fluid and other aides, all available from magic shops. Many skilled manipulators have not hesitated to use such artifices, so the reader should not scorn them.
Aside from whatever merit these tricks may possess, it is believed their greatest value lies in the...
An amazing magic ritual that, performed with the audience, will invariably lead to success. Actually, a self-working, impromptu card magic effect, which uses four simple cards taken at random from the deck and results in an amazing "ritual," which can also be performed in close-up or on a stage, or remotely, even over the phone, and which will never fail to amaze the entire audience involved!
Four very common playing cards are used, taken at random from a deck of cards, and with which the illusionist, at the same time as one, dozens, or hundreds of spectators (each supplied with four different...
An automatic and practically impromptu card magic effect that requires an unusual deck of poker cards whose simple preparation is done in front of the audience, if not by entrusting it to a spectator.
For each of the four suits, figures (Jack, Queen, King) and Aces are drawn, stacking them neatly in four different bundles, to represent the aristocratic members of the city's four important houses, who would like to return to being well-liked by their citizenry.
For this purpose, the two Jokers are hired as "image consultants," and their first piece of advice is that each of the members...
An impromptu mentalism effect involving a merely thought card, chosen from aces and figures, and in which, despite the possibility of the spectator lying, the real truth will always be revealed by the Magician.
Truth Bites is a mentalism effect but also a packet trick always ready when needed, where a spectator thinks of a card that could be one of the four aces or any figure in the deck (Jacks, Queens or Kings). She will also secretly choose a role to play: Knight, who will always tell the truth, or rogue who, on the contrary, will lie all the time.
the years studied and performed many methods. Often there are several preconditions, such as the fact that a deck switch is necessary or that the effect could only be shown while seated. These are all things that make it a hassle for the walk-around magician. Ferry's charming method is completely impromptu and can be performed anytime and anywhere even with a borrowed deck....a real recommendation!" - Dick Koornwinder
... to write a book, and with the support of nearly every professional mentalist in the world, Corinda set out to compile The Thirteen Steps to Mentalism.
After two years, the series was published step by step. Corinda succeeded in producing what has now become the only real encyclopedia of mental magic. For this, he has received many honours - including recognition from The Magic Circle who awarded him membership to the Inner Circle with Gold Star - a coveted award.
Effect: The spectator shuffles and cuts a regular deck, then chooses four cards, placing them under the table. After he picks one card by its position (top card, second card, third card, or bottom card) and moves the cards by an imaginary roll of the dice, the magician - without seeing or touching the cards - reveals the chosen card's identity.
If you have a client or friend you want to impress, this is the effect, plus you give them a souvenir.
Two Methods: one method, no setup, totally impromptu
Two presentations: one presentation the spectator chooses the card with his name on it.
...
The magician begins by taking out four Aces. The spectator selects one red card and one black card, which are then returned to the deck and shuffled. The spectator is asked to cut the deck randomly into four packets. The four Aces are placed on top of each packet. The packets are reassembled. When the deck is spread, the four Aces not only gather together, but the red Aces sandwich the spectator’s red selection, and the black Aces sandwich the spectator’s black selection.
Imagine a meaningful and memorable piece of mentalism using just a deck of cards.
100% impromptu
No boring storytelling
No gimmicks
Simple sleights
Useful for all situations
Welcome to Autumn Leaves, a piece that I originally released at the Emergency Act, part of my professional repertoire that can serve you well as a fascinating card prediction and a reminder of the power of child-like awe.
Every magician and mentalist can predict a card, but be the one who creates a beautiful precognition.
The spectator shuffles the deck freely, with no stack involved. The spectator first names any card, then remembers a random card. The magician has no knowledge of the remembered card. In the end, dealing to the named number reveals the spectator's selection.
Performance transcript:
Next is a completely impromptu ACAAN routine.
First borrow a deck and have it freely shuffled.
There is no stack at all.
Have the spectator freely name a number from 1 to 52.
I have no spectator here, so I'll roll two dice.
56 is too high.
35-we'll use 35.
Then have the spectator freely cut off a packet.
