and have been unduly shadowed by the excellent michael Ammar's work on the effect. Stanyon however covers effects achieved with one all the way up to six balls. This is definitely a must for any magician interested into designing his own routine rather than just doing another presentation of Dai Vernon (who is entirely to be found in Jean Caroly's book dated 1900 except for the Mora wand spin)

At this price it's almost a theft of something invaluable

Original Card Mysteries

Eric F. Impey
Original Card Mysteries by Eric F. Impey

Excerpt from the Foreword:

The majority of the effects described in this book are absolutely new, and require a minimum amount of skill. I have been using many of them for a considerable time, and they are all original with me, except one. So I sincerely hope that others will not "invent" them in a few months time.

In this publication, Impey describes how to wax together pairs of cards, a technique that Dai Vernon would later refine with rough-and-smooth to create his famous Brainwave deck. Judson Brown is generally credited with inventing the basic brainwave-type effect using Impey's waxed cards...

Advantage Card Playing and Draw Poker

F. R. Ritter
Advantage Card Playing and Draw Poker by F. R. Ritter... deals with the mathematical odds of draw poker.

Some people believe that F. R. Ritter might be S. W. Erdnase, the unknown author of Expert at the Card Table, which was published three years earlier than this book in 1902. Another historically interesting fact is that this is likely the book Dai Vernon "mistook" for Expert at the Card Table when his father brought it home from work to show him as a young boy.

[This digital facsimile reproduction has been beautifully colorized. This significantly improves the many illustrations and photos included in this work.]

Faucett Ross on Magic

Faucett Ross
Faucett Ross on Magic by Faucett Ross

Listen to one of the old timers talking about his friendship with Dai Vernon, T. Nelson Downs and many other big names. If you haven't read the Magic Of Faucett Ross by Lewis Ganson, then this recording will send you to your nearest magical dealer to buy it. If you have the book, then you will see how Lewis Ganson used the material of this recording to create the classic book. One of the funniest recordings in our collection.

This is a licensed reproduction of the famous Magicassette and MagiCD series created by Martin Breese - now owned by Lybrary.com.

Fred Castle

Fred Castle(8th April 1909 - 17th June 1997)

In 1932 when he saw Herbert Milton work with jumbo cards at Maskelyne's he decided to become a specialist with these large cards. He fooled Dai Vernon with 'Hand of Cleopatra' during Fred's USA tour in 1981.

Fred was also a renowned singer specializing in Gilbert and Sullivan operettas.
