A wonderful self-working rendition of the classic "Out Of This World" effect. This was the first real card trick I saw - and I was baffled.

A borrowed deck is shuffled. A red and a black card are placed face up on the table. The performer then removes cards, one at a time from the deck. Without the spectator seeing the faces of these cards, he indicates whether he thinks a card is a red or a black. If he thinks it is a red card, the performer places it, face down, on the face up red card. If the spectator thinks it is a black card, the performer places it face down on the face up black card....

The MUK or Museum für Unterhaltungskunst (Museum of Entertainment Arts) in Vienna, Austria, issues an interesting magazine every 6 months. This museum covers mostly magic, circus, and variety, and its publication draws from the holdings of the museum.

Even for people who do not read German this might be interesting, because many historical photos and artifacts are reproduced. For example, issue 2 features an article on Houdini with many fascinating photos, several of which I have never seen before.

Slydini used to open his stage act with this routine.

Slydini's Production Silks is a routine he cared deeply about. This is an opening stage effect. (He used to say: "If you wait too long the silks will get stale".) The magician shows his hands empty then picks up a silk from the seat of a chair. The silk is displayed and placed on the back of the chair. The magician reaches into the air and produces a second silk, which is also placed on the back of the chair. Two more silks are produced from the air and then all four silks are picked up. These silks multiply into a beautiful 'fountain...

Someone tries to find the queen amongst two jokers, but fails every time. You pocket the queen, and ask them to find the black and white joker... they fail again as... all three cards are queens!

Holding three face down jumbo(ish) sized playing cards you say, "These cards may look very large, but they aren't... it's just that I have very small hands." As you patter, you show the cards to be two jokers and... a queen.

You borrow a normal egg from a spectator, who signs it with a permanent pen. Then you borrow a coin and also have it signed by the spectator. Now you proceed to put the signed egg and signed coin together and without making any funny or weird movements. The coin visually penetrates the egg and goes through its shell!. It all happens right before the eyes of the spectator. The egg is now shown all around completely intact, with no scratches or holes. Your hands are shown on both sides, all angles are totally clean, you are not hiding or palming the coin, it really has 'melted' into the egg! You...

This is a completely new principle. One rarely stumbles upon something like this. Often we find variations on old themes, slight alterations or modifications. However, this is a completely new principle. It is actually the combination of two known methods but in a completely new and unique way enabling completely different and much stronger effects.

Imagine a deck being fairly and thoroughly shuffled by yourself and the spectator. Under total test conditions, the spectator selects any card. You will immediately know the identity of the selected card. At any time, the deck can be passed out...

This is probably the most visual signed card at impossible location effect available today. The spectator's signed card penetrates a borrowed and sealed bottle.

• The bottle can be borrowed and is completely ungimmicked
• The signature that appears on the card inside the bottle is the signature of the spectator
• It can be a drawing or a signature - anything
• The card in the bottle is the card the spectator signs - no duplicate or switch.

This is Luke's excellently engineered confabulation routine. This routine combines several different methods to create a rather detailed prediction effect. The routine showcases the possibility of mixing such methods as mechanical forces, psychological forces, double writing, reverse engineered predictions, planted predictions and extending predictions using 'bolstering' techniques. Within the whole routine, the performer will only need to 'double write' three times. Each of these happen under the logical 'covers' of writing another piece of information. Effect: Having just had a card freely forced, you table the deck. Your right hand hovers over it, then descends onto it. Suddenly... a card spins out of the deck and into your waiting left hand. On flipping it face up...it proves to be the very one selected! You are then carried through the streets on the shoulders of your enthusiastic audience.
