Al E. Smith
A Spell Of Cards by Al E. Smith

An intriguing selection of card effects, A Spell Of Cards is not wholly concerned with spelling tricks. There are more than several offering a sideways glance at the concept. They take the spelling genre a little bit off the usual well-beaten track.

Among the non-spellers, there are a few move-related fragments. Nothing to run and hide from, though faro shuffles and bottom deals get a look in along the way; as well as established favourites like the Braue Addition, Double Undercut and the odd false shuffle.

Anybody who likes cards and is not completely allergic to spelling effects should...

Mark Leveridge
A Simple Guide to Creativity by Mark Leveridge

A thoroughly understandable explanation about how to create new magic and the techniques for improving the magic that you already do. De-mystify the creative process and open up your mind to simple yet effective ways to improve your magic.

Over the years there have been a number of books which have sought to create some sort of ‘system’ to explain and to formalize the process of magical creation. The problem is that in seeking to explain and elucidate the process so much jargon and complex theorizing takes place that the average reader is left with little that is understandable to work...

Martin Lewis
A Sharper Sharped by Martin Lewis

A wonderful routine only requiring a false count. Martin Lewis uses the Buckle count but several other false counts can be substituted.

The premise is a game of cards with a card sharper. You deal cards and the sharper counts his cards. He has 6 cards. Since you can't play poker with six he removes one card and counts them again still leaving him with six cards. This is repeated two more times always leaving him with six cards. Only the last time he is left with 4 cards. Since you can't play poker with 4 cards he adds a card but still is left with only 4 cards. This continues until in the...

A Scotch Brand of Magic by Joseph White

Magic enabled by double sided tape.

This ebook will show you how to place a coin at the tips of your fingers and, in full view of the audience, cause that coin to vanish in an instant! All this without the use of a pull. You may shake your hands vigorously to prove that nothing is contained therein. You then proceed to produce coin after coin from mid-air - you will produce a number of coins, not just one. With this new method of palming it is possible for the magician to work in short sleeves (or, for that matter, with no sleeves at all). You can show both hands convincingly empty and at...

A Real Prediction by Michael Maxwell

This effect was created by Dai Vernon and was published in Rufus Steele's book The Last Word on Cards.

Dale A. Hildebrandt
A Quiet Corner by Dale A. Hildebrandt

A Quiet Corner was originally published in Nathan Spark’s ebook Tattoo and reprinted in Heavily Haunted: Second Edition. Here is what Don Theo III had to say about A Quiet Corner:

"Subtitled "Various Tips, Techniques, Pieces and Parts." Prepare yourself before diving into this entry. This is a walk on the wild side, led by the delicious madness that is Dale Hildebrandt. Dale goes really deep with this, and it's obvious he really put forth a lot of time and effort. Since first reading his work, I have always wanted to attend a lecture by Dale just for the pure experience. This is about as close as it gets without having him right...

What you now have is the result of a two-year effort to build the curriculum, create the videos, and field test the project - fine-tuning it based on what was discovered out in the field.

Jon Racherbaumer
A Promising Premise by Jon Racherbaumer

Unpacking Dai Vernon's Pact

When Vernon's trick appeared, its puzzling aspect centers on the fact that the spectator chooses one of three cards and the one chosen changes into his selection. In other words, the spectator is permitted to make two decisions. He selects any card. Then he selects one-of-three cards, which changes into his selection. It is essentially a quickie.
