Roberto Giobbi

Besides his famous Card College series, Giobbi has authored multiple other bestsellers. Among them are titles such as Ask Roberto, Secret Twitter, and his excellent sleightless entry into card magic: Card College Light Trilogy. Jon Racherbaumer

Jon Racherbaumer... went to work for Eastern Airlines from 1965-1990 as an airlines business person.

He eventually joined the IBM and the SAM in 1966, is a member of the Order of Merlin, and is a Lifetime Member of the Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. He is currently the Associate Editor of Richard Kaufman's Genii magazine. Prior to accepting this post, he contributed to numerous other magazines.

Jon's mentors were Ed Marlo and Eddie Fields.

His other interests are: body-building, literature, book-collecting, martial arts, philosophy, poetry, film, theater (theory), cosmology, painting, and mathematical recreations.

 

Boris Wild

Boris Wild... Card At Any Number. He is a French Champion of Card Magic, an FFAP Grand Prix Winner and a FISM Award Winner. In 2008, he was the Guest of Honor at the prestigious FFFF Convention, being the very first French perfomer to get this title and the youngest ever. In 2011, he appeared on the cover of Genii Magazine with a 14-page story.
 

Scott Cram

Genii, The Conjurors' Magazine is the longest-running and currently the only major independent magic magazine in the US. It is a monthly magazine first published in September 1936, currently edited by Richard J. Kaufman and owned by Randy Pitchford.
 

(Benny) Ben Harris

(Benny) Ben Harris... was used by Doug Henning, released as a magical toy by Tenyo, adapted by Disney, and remains a top-selling dealer item almost 35 years later.

From 1985-1996 Harris toured extensively (visiting 36 countries), lecturing and teaching his magical inventions.

Ben has written over 40 books on magic (most recently, Silent Running, Mentallica, and A Thought Well Stolen), as well as penning material for Apocalypse, The Magic Circular, Genii, Penthouse, The Skeptical Inquirer and High Times magazines.

He lives with his wife in a sunny corner of the Antipodes and, using a variety of pseudonyms, also writes professionally in other genres including, Alternate Lifestyles and Science Fiction/Adventure.

John Booth

John Booth... Pennsylvania: 7th August 1912 - November 11th 2009)

Rev Dr. John [William Nicholls] Booth, LittD, MIMC. Inspired at age 10 by a magic set. Learned at age 14 from W.J. Armstrong ("Armah"). Semi-pro at 15 (in 1927). Edited-published Canada's second (after W.G. Edwards's Edwards Monthly) magic magazine, The Canadian Magician's Digest (1929, 3 issues). Organized the first Canadian magic convention (Hamilton, Ontario) 18-19 Apr 1931. Pro 1934 - Mar 1940, as a prominent society, nightclub, and hotel magician. In 1938 also worked alternate venues as "Jancini". 1937 Sphinx Award.

Larry White

Larry White... and magic manufacturer (as White Magic). Specializes in science magic.

Tony Griffith

William W. Larsen(Green Bay, Wisconsin: 31st December 1904 - 5th July 1953)

Inspired and learned from tricks bought by his father. Moved to Southern California in 1922. Criminal lawyer. Semi-pro mentalist and magician. Founder-editor Genii magazine 1936-53. In 1939 toured a full-evening show thru USA with wife Gerrie and sons Bill Jr and Milt. Owned Thayer Studio of Magic in Los Angeles 1942-1950 when sold to Clayton Jacobson. Retired from law practice in 1945 to give full time to magic. Founder of the Larsen magic dynasty. SAM Hall of Fame.

Van Cleve

Van Cleve... Francisco's Renaissance Pleasure Faire. A prolific inventor of magic, his creations include GagBag, the color-changing bag, used by wizards the world over. As a magical author, his writings include Weird Magic, the "How To Look Your Best...." section of Magic, Inc.'s Success Book, and articles in Genii, Tops, and the Linking Ring, magazines for conjurers.

B. W. McCarron

B. W. McCarronB.W. McCarron is a performing magician and mentalist, and a former board member for the Tacoma Ring of the International Brotherhood of Magicians. Aside from several articles on magic and mentalism he has written for Genii, The Conjuror's Magazine, B.W. has written articles for computer and music magazines, as well as authored books for magicians and mentalists such as Clearly Mental!, The Gambling Magician, VCR Magic, The Propshop, and The Solomon Principle.

Julien J. Proskauer(New York City, NY: 14th June 1893 - 18th December 1958).

Printer-businessman. Amateur magician since 1909 and psychic investigator. Aka "Psycho". SAM President 1935-36. Headed the splinter group from the SAM that founded the Magicians Guild of America in 1944. Published The New Conjurors' Magazine 1945-47.

Wrote Spook Crooks! (1932, 300pp); How'd ja do That? (1934, 92pp), a piracy of Johnston and Sterling's Modern Card Miracles (1919); Suckers All! (1934, 318pp); Puzzles for Everyone (191pp); and The Dead Do Not Talk (1946, 198pp, ghosted by Walter B. Gibson). Articles in Sphinx and The New Conjurors' Magazine and tricks in Genii.

 

Lloyd W. Chambers

Lloyd W. Chambers... 1941 in Topeka, then joined the Navy the same year, serving for four years as a senior Lieutenant. After the war, he made equipment - primarily in wood - for magic dealers, including Thayer, Abbott’s, and his own Chambers Magic Co.

Lloyd contributed material to the Linking Ring, Sphinx, and Genii magazines. He was a member of the I.B.M., S.A.M., P.C.A.M., and the Magic Dealer’s Association. A sudden heart attack took Chambers in January 1960, at age 53.

 

Lu Brent

Lu Brent... Semi-pro since 1927 and pro since 1930.

Invented Cig-O-Test by 1932, the build-it-yourself Card Castle in 1945, Two Into Ones (folded $2 bill opens into two $1 bills) in 1948, the Diminishing Bills in 1950, and Bill to Matches in 1961.

Wrote Novel Magic (1932; repr 1946, 43pp), Torn and Restored Magazine Cover (1939, 8pp; 2nd ed 1953, 9pp), Super Card Mysteries [1933], Five Star Card Effects (1943), Fifteen Star Card Effects (1956, 26pp), Totally Refreshing Ideas and Carefully Kept Secrets (1966, 38pp), and Lu Brent's Best Magic Tricks (2 vols, 1969, 1974, 42pp+45pp). George McAthy

George McAthy... for his ventriloquism and comedy magic act at conventions, George also loved to write and invent magic effects with a comedic twist. Effects invented by McAthy include the "Pink Elephants and Purple Cows" sucker card trick and "Mandroop's Insurance Policy".

McAthy appeared on the cover of Genii in 1944 and again in 1967. Abbott's Magic featured George on the cover of its Tops magazine in February 1944. He was also recognized by his peers in the International Brotherhood of Magicians, appearing on the cover of its monthly journal, The Linking Ring, in 1953.
