A Few Good Methods

David Devlin
A Few Good Methods by David Devlin

Transpositions are a staple in magic. The basic effect is simple: two objects switch places. That is it. What David has done in this eBook is that he has come up with five different ways to accomplish the transposition of selected playing cards.

The methods range from super easy to...well...not hard but not as super easy as some of the others. Some of the methods are totally impromptu, while others require a small amount of setup.

Those of you who are familiar with David's work already know that he does not like difficult sleights or overly complicated methods. So, you will not find any...

Contactless Automatic Card At Number: Ebook #5 by Biagio Fasano

This fifth part of my card project (each volume is, in any case, totally independent of the others) includes 3 new original A.C.A.A.N. effects requiring no sleight of hands:

  • Multiverse ACAAN (Parallel Universes in a deck of cards!)
  • Royal AKAAN (the King of "Card at Number"!)
  • IMPROMPTU Lucky ACAAN (Card at Lucky Number, with a borrowed and shuffled deck!)

It's a new series of hands-off self-working card magic effects, that will all happen in your viewer's hands. No particular skill is required, just the ability to instruct and pay attention to what the viewer is doing... In this third...

Split Prediction

Miku W.
Split Prediction by Miku W.

A near-impromptu routine with surprisingly strong impact. The spectator shuffles, and the magician removes a prediction card and sets it aside. The spectator freely cuts the deck into three piles, shuffles, remembers any card, and gives the deck a random cut. The magician says the spectator will help locate the selection, then has them lift a small packet and perform a faro shuffle with the rest, which naturally re-forms the deck into three packets. Taking the third packet, the magician deals pairs from the top and bottom, and the last card remaining in the hand is the selection. But it's...

Kollectors Revisited

Andrew Loh
Kollectors Revisited by Andrew Loh

This is one of Andrew's favourite routines. He has been performing Kollectors Revisited for many years in his act and he regards this effect as his pet routine.

This effect plays big and best of all, it's impromptu and can be performed with a borrowed deck.

In addition, if you are going to perform card magic that has great impact to layman, this effect is for you. This effect involves three freely selected cards and they can be signed. You cause their signed selections to vanish into thin air and magically, the selections appear in a very magical manner.

Encyclopedia of Self-Working Card Tricks

Glenn G. Gravatt
Encyclopedia of Self-Working Card Tricks by Glenn G. Gravatt...
unique, something out of the ordinary.

A good part of this book was included in Jean Hugard's Encyclopedia of Card Tricks, but not everything. A comparison of what has been included in Hugard's work and what not can be found in A Comparison of the Gravatt and Hugard Encyclopedias of Card Magic by William Rugh.

This is one of the harder to find and quite expensive books on card magic, because only a small run of mimeographed copies was ever offered for sale. As the author himself admits, the original books are of poor quality rendering many pages very hard to read:

Practical Mental Effects

This book together with Annemann's Card Magic covers a good part of the famous Jinx magazine, of which Annemann was editor.

Annemann's Full Deck of Impromptu Card Tricks, which made its appearance about a year ago, has been enjoying a well deserved popularity ever since. There is no reason to suppose that Annemann's Practical Mental Effects, compiled in the main...

The Master of Misdirection

D. Angelo Ferri
The Master of Misdirection by D. Angelo Ferri... eight years under Slydini and has spent a lifetime mastering the Slydini method. Dennis told me: "While many magicians admire Slydini, they don't understand what made him unique or how his approach can be employed by them." This is the ebook that will help you understand Slydini's way of doing magic.

This ebook is a very serious study of the thinking, the how and the why Slydini's System of Misdirection is so different from traditional forms of misdirection. This thinking, this manipulation of perception, is clearly demonstrated in his 'Coins Through the Table'.

Poker Royal

Felipe Suau
Poker Royal by Felipe Suau

An extraordinary magic trick in which the spectators will see four jacks turn face down one by one. For the final climax, the magician explains that sometimes, if poker cards are used for magic, very strange things can happen: That's when the four jacks suddenly turn into a Royal Flush. A trick with which I bluffed the audience and magicians. All you need is a special card, which is very easy to find. But this little effort is really worth it.

An impromptu version of the effect is also described, in which the cards from Ace to Four, one at a time, turn face down and then magically transform...
