Basil Horwitz - the South African mentalist - released in the 1980s seven of his treasured mentalism routines and the impact was phenomenal. This is the first volume in a five volume series from which only two have been published.

Verrall Wass takes us through his card tricks from manipulation to mechanical stage/platform effects. The ebook is split into two sections, one describing effects with regular sized cards, the other with giant cards.

The last chapter espouses some of his personal ideas as to magical presentation and psychic phenomenon. Robert Harbin even donated an effect to this collection - "The Card in a Lemon." Many of the ideas in this ebook have been hibernating since 1936 and need to be performed for the public.

Four spectators write four numbers. A fifth adds them and the number matches a prediction as well as every spectator's result who participated in the experiment. A combination of methods cancels each other to make this an unexplainable mystery.

Touching on Hoy

Three spectators are seated on chairs on stage. The performer asks each of them to close their eyes. He then taps the first spectator on the shoulder and asks them to think of a simple shape. He then taps the second spectator on...

Borrow a coin. Get it signed and bend it in your hand. It is a clear and strong effect. Titanas explains two different variations which can be performed standing.

The video is shot for my taste from a bit too far, particularly in the demonstration part the coin is hard to see. However, the explanation is clear and should not cause any difficulties for you to learn this wonderful effect.

From Titanas come two diabolical methods to recreate the classic drawing duplication close-up using nothing more than your business cards and a pen. One of the explained methods is completely impromptu and both make a great addition to any working magician's arsenal.

An amazing super clean penetration of a signed coin to a crispes bag.

You borrow a coin which the spectator signs. You hand them a chips bag and you throw the coin on the bag. They hear the coin, they feel the coin but they don't see the coin. A sweet revelation of a selected card. The Magician offers a beverage to the spectator. The spectator selects a card and the magician explains to him that he found out that cold beverages are much better if you add some sugar to them. The reaction of the sugar causes the sugar to form the shape of the selected card at the inside bottom of the glass.

An alternative presentational angle could be that you have caused some of that massive amount of sugar already in the soft drink to fall out at the bottom and form an image of the selected card.
