Originally launched as "Australia's Only Sleight Of Hand Monthly" and published between 1974 and 1982, The Blueprint still retains that claim today. Editors Barry Govan, Ian Baxter, Murray Cooper and Gerry McCreanor churned out a much-discussed journal that featured contributions from the likes of Ed Marlo, Jon Racherbaumer, Tom Gagnon, Dan Tong, Ray Grismer, Phil Goldstein, Jeff Busby, Jerry Mentzer, Harry Lorayne, et al. The Bat was the house organ for Magic Limited published by Lloyd Jones that ran from No. 1, Feb. 1943 until No. 86, Feb. 1951 for a total of 86 issues. (This PDF includes numbers 1 to 50. See the second volume for the remaining issues.) It is filled with close-up and stage effects of every kind, and brings you magic by top names like Charlie Miller, Dr. Jaks, Bert Allerton, Charles Jordan, Frank Chapman, T. Page Wright, and many more prominent pros of the era. It was also for a time the Official Organ of the Magic Dealers Association.

Issues run from February 1943 thru February 1948 and include an index. Published irregularly, then monthly starting with Number 13.

Racherbaumer, a man of words - sometimes strong words, sometimes exotic words, sometimes provocative words, sometimes strange words - but always thoughtful and worth reading, wrote a two year column in The Greater Son of the Bat Jr. journal (S.O.B.jr.). All 24 installments of this column are collected here. You will find a lot of Marlo-vian talk, good tricks and interesting articles. I was not a magician in the late 70s, so I cannot say how it was back then in the 'good old times', but reading Sticks and Stones allowed me to imagine how - I am sure - it must have been.
