Back in the 1980's when Martin Breese was a fledgling Magic Dealer advertising regularly in Abracadabra he decided to create a little free house magazine to keep his clients in touch with magic that he was releasing and information about the magic scene for those who were not living in London or within easy reach of London. The Newsletter grew until one day it was so successful that he decided to turn it into a proper magic magazine and so Sorcerer Magazine was born.
Now in this digital edition we have combined all the issues of The Newsletter and Sorcerer Magazine. It is a window on the...

I Always Get Stuck With The BillScott Xavier
A magician stands before the crowd. He borrows a dollar bill from a spectator. The bill is given to another spectator, who is working as the security guard for this trick. The pseudo-security guard records the serial number from the bill onto a large dry erase board so everyone can experience the magic to come. A third spectator is given a paper bag and a knife.
The magician then asks for the bill to be placed inside of a small dish. The bill is dowsed with lighter fluid and then ignited with a barbecue lighter. The bill bursts into flames and eventually settles into a burned mess of ashes. ...

If you are a packet trick lover who would like to see some clever thinking on the B-wave plot, then this is a worthy buy." - Erik OstreshJohn Gelasi presents an entire ebook dedicated entirely to one of his favorite card plots: the packet brainwave effect.

Pieces at 3am: Volume 2Dee Christopher
Four years have passed since I released the original Pieces at 3am. The book that came to be one of Dee's best selling collections and the single publication that spawned most variations by other artists of his original thoughts and ideas.
Dee has had the thought of doing a second volume for years, but he has never had the correct collection of effects and concepts that he felt could adhere to the original thought. All of the effects in the original book were ideas that came to him as he woke in a cold sweat at night. They were pieces that entered his conscious mind after dark, usually at around 3 am. ...

Chess GambitDevin Knight
The effect reads totally impossible, yet it is accurate in every regard. One of the most unique and baffling magical effects on stage today. Direct from Devin Knight's own stage show and a limited release, this is based on a little known idea that Al Mann shared with Devin.
Al Mann's original idea has been revised and greatly improved upon to make it into a real visual showpiece. Read the effect and ponder how such a thing is possible:
Performer introduces a table containing a chess set. He tells the audience before the show he gave a copy of the best-selling book, "Chess Strategy"...

Bookworm: The Ultimate Impromptu Book Test ActDavid Devlin
Here is the act exactly as the audience sees it:
The performer asks for the loan of three paperback novels, a piece of paper, and a pen or pencil. The performer says, "I have a feeling about one of you, and I think I have a pretty good idea about something that is going to be significant to you a little later on." The performer then writes something on the paper, folds it up, and hands it to one of the audience members.
Three audience members are now selected to participate in the tests. Participant #1 selects a book, opens it up to a random page and remembers a word. The other participants,...

Star FinderChris Hare
Chris Hare presents two effects which when performed in sequence enables the performer to discover a complete stranger's Star Sign and birthday.
Star Finder is a clever technique for secretly discovering and revealing a complete stranger's Astrological Star Sign, without any prior knowledge whatsoever.
Using only six keywords and guiding someone through some simple mental imagery you will be able to correctly name someone's Astrological Star Sign, in a very short space of time. By using keywords it appears much less contrived than some other anagram based methods. Furthermore, the six...

Browsing Around in MagicBert Pratt
Bert Pratt was a bookworm, somebody who worked his way through libraries and book stores to find the odd appearance of magic in non-magic books. He wrote a series of articles which were published in the Midget Magician, a journal that saw a print run of only 50. It is therefore safe to assume you have never read these articles.
It includes excerpts from books and magazines now practically unobtainable. Bert Pratt, writing as Ptinos, delved deeply into the old book marts of London, into libraries, into magazine files, to find magic and magical references. The resulting reading is charming,...
