Lost ideas, concepts and tidbits of legerdemain.
This issue presents a collection of practical concepts, techniques, and ideas for serious magicians.
Effect: The magician shows the spectator a unique deck of cards, each bearing a different word. The spectator riffle shuffles the deck. The magician turns away as the spectator takes the top five cards and creates a sentence using those words on the cards. Different sentences can be created by the spectator. Without asking any questions, the magician reveals the exact sentence created by the spectator.

Tony Kardyro, aka Senor Torino, was a sleight-of-hand master. However, this routine with seven effects uses a simple to make gimmick, a thick card, that eliminates difficult sleights. It is perhaps the best card routine Kardyro ever created. He performed it throughout his entire professional career. It is a masterclass in routining and structuring an effective and entertaining card routine.
A fun close-up or parlor magic routine (with a mentalism flavor and an "OMG!" ending) that revolves around the game of chess.
The Effect: The performer shows six square cards, each with the image of a chess board setup. On each card, a different piece is missing - a pawn on one, a rook on another, etc. He then shows the backs of those cards, and each is numbered from 1 to 6. Those cards are laid aside for now.
A deck of cards is introduced, and instead of playing cards on the faces, there are pictures of chess pieces, one piece on each card. A spectator is asked to pull a card from the...
I have already published a few behind-the-back location effects, such as Behind the Back Location and The Gift. In this ebook, I am publishing another behind-the-back location effect, except this one is, in my opinion, the strongest one. I think it’s more fooling than the aforementioned two. Hence why I decided to call it The Ultimate Behind the Back Location.
There is a full performance video by my friend attached below, but before you watch it, here are some important conditions to keep in mind:
An "Any Card At Any Number" effect that, brought forth from the imagination of the viewer, an instant later turns into reality.
A new card magic and mentalism effect in which the magician, after placing a case of cards on the table and randomly choosing a spectator, will ask him to imagine being in a dream.
The protagonist will be that very case from which all the cards have, however, flown away, tired of "captivity." He will have to imagine seeing them fluttering freely over the horizon, but he will also realize that, perhaps repentant or simply tired, they are coming back, toward them....
Wonderful recollections and stories about show business and performers, including some magicians, spanning the late 19th century and the early 20th century.
Uno stupefacente effetto di "Carta al Numero" che parla di Magia e Intelligenza Artificiale per creare un Doppio Miracolo di Cartomagia! E la parte migliore: il tutto è completamente AUTOMATICO!
The essential mentalism reference work. No mentalist should be without it.
"It is the best, and most complete, introduction to mentalism ever written." - Bob Cassidy
Today, known throughout the world, Corinda has been acclaimed as inventor, writer, and teacher of mentalism - the art of mindreading. Whilst on tour in America, his friends persuaded him to write a book, and with the support of nearly every professional mentalist in the world, Corinda set out to compile The Thirteen Steps to Mentalism.
After two years, the series was published step by step. Corinda succeeded in producing what has...
This is a fascinating compilation of apparatus magic explained in text and photos.
Excerpt from the foreword:
'The World's Most Ingenious Magical Apparatus' was the title of a Lecture which I have presented all over the world including the famous 'Magic Castle' in Hollywood. Many of the items in this book were used in the Lecture but I have added some recently acquired items which have never before seen the light of day.
I have already published an open prediction effect called Open Prediction: A New Approach to a Classic Plot. Here I am publishing a different open prediction method of mine. I call this one Open Prediction: The Simplest Approach because the method is extremely simple, yet, despite that, it produces the ideal effect from a lay person's point of view. Also, despite the simplicity of the method, it is previously unpublished as far as I'm aware.

3 new effects with a regular ESP deck.
The deck is shuffled by the mentalist and cut by two spectators.
SEVEN SEES PART I – Three packets of seven cards are dealt in a row. Spectator 1 picks any packet. Spectator 2 chooses either the top or the bottom card twice. They each look at a symbol and remember it. They replace their card into the packet and shuffle it. They concentrate on their symbol as the mentalist is looking through the packet and removes two cards. They are the two selected symbols.
SEVEN SEES PART II – The two remaining packets are piled up and the cards are dealt...
Create your own unique performance.
This ebook explores how great performances go beyond technique - they are driven by emotional energy and connection with the audience.
Rooted in psychology, neuroscience, and the performing arts, this ebook introduces the Sleight of Presentation theory: a method for creating impactful, unique performances that leave a lasting impression. It's not just for magicians, but for anyone who performs - speakers, dancers, artists - anyone who steps in front of an audience.
You start out with eight cards consisting of two packets of four identical cards each. The two designs are different. Peter uses two differently colored spots. This display move allows you to show eight identical cards with one design, and then eight identical cards with the other design. The spectator will think you have eight identical cards, and then suddenly they change to eight different cards.

Excerpt from the introduction:
The theme of the series would have been conveyed more precisely by a title such as 'Audience Involvement and Visual Mentalism'.
It is therefore most desirable that the audience should see exactly what is happening during the preliminaries (or build-up) of an effect. But even this may not be enough. What they see must be interesting enough to rivet their attention. People are most interested in those events in which they involve themselves, in which they 'join in' - identification is the psychological term.
Both of the effects that follow are fully...
Here is a manuscript that begins where all other texts on hypnotism leave off. The author, a noted stage performer and hypnotist himself, presents a comparative study of Mesmerism versus Hypnotism, with suggested experiments with the extraordinary powers of the human mind that you, yourself, can try.
McGill also gives you a modernized mesmeric method of hypnotizing, especially designed for ESP research.
This hard-to-find monograph was written and designed for use by professional hypnotists. It is not a text for beginners.

Effect: One spectator merely thinks of a card. A second spectator deals cards face down, stopping absolutely anywhere they choose. The card they stop at is the first spectator's exact thought of card. Easy to do, no complicated procedures, instant reset.
Here's why "The Jokers Are In On It" is a must-have for your repertoire:
Spectator Shuffles the Deck: The spectator shuffles before and after thinking of their card, making any suspicion of magician manipulation impossible. This reinforces the feeling of fairness.
Minimal Magician Handling: You seemingly only touch the deck to remove...
A flexible approach to the impossible coincidence.
Find a quiet, secluded space... get comfortable, close your eyes, and imagine: the postman rings. A package trapped for 60+ years in the USPS's Dead Letter Office has finally arrived. The sender: Some odd Canadian named Lyons. Contents: The long-lost issue of an obscure mag dedicated entirely to a flexible, multi-layered framework for one solitary routine. Hidden math of some kind may be involved.
Enough to jolt some from their magical slumber in frantic search of freshly-baked eye cookies? Sure. But for those still reveling comfortably...
Effect: Step into a world of mentalism with Final Destination, where the magician predicts the exact final destination of a virtual journey chosen by the spectator. Using a sleek and intuitive app, the spectator freely selects a departure city, and the journey unfolds with a series of destinations. As the journey progresses, the spectator's final destination is revealed — matching the magician’s prediction perfectly.
How it Works: The magician secretly writes down a prediction and hands it to a spectator. Through the app, the spectator mentally selects a departure city, not by physically...
