Books (printed) in Magic & Conjuring

We are known for our ebooks. However, through various deals and acquisitions we have gotten hold of a good amount of printed books which we are offering here in this category until our stock is exhausted.

These are not second hand items. They are new, sometimes still shrink wrapped, ready to be retailed. The pricing largely reflects the amount of books we have left as well as the exclusivity and quality of the contents in them. I am sure you will find a number of incredible deals here.

We also do print some of our ebooks and those will not so quickly vanish from our catalog. But it might very well be the case that at some point we decide to discontinue the printed version and only offer the digital one. Don't wait too long if you want the printed version.

Al Mann
Tr-Id by Al Mann

Effect: Mentalist displays a board with many designs and colors. Three persons are invited to secretly choose one design each. Mentalist divines all three designs and colors. That is the effect and that is exactly what happens. Mentalist can walk into any audience and do the test without any previous preparation.

Uncannily, the three persons code their thoughts to the mentalist through insignificant "body...

Basil Horwitz
The Mental Magick of Basil Horwitz Volume 5 by Basil Horwitz

From the introduction by Andy Nyman:

When I came across Basil's first book I couldn't believe it. Here was mentalism that fitted everything I had been searching for. It was clean, simple in plot and direct. In fact the more I read the more I was astonished and frustrated by the simplicity of Basil's thinking; 'Of course! Why didn't I think of that?' was a response I had about every five pages. I feel particularly indebted to Basil as I have partly built my reputation on one of his routines (if you think I'm telling you which one, think again).

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Basil....

Basil Horwitz
The Mental Magick of Basil Horwitz Volume 4 by Basil Horwitz

From the foreword by Basil Horwitz:

Here are just a few of my thoughts and opinions on the use of mentalism and mental magic. Many magical friends have commented that they are concerned that I use playing cards in mentalism effects and a number of readers were disappointed that my last book contained mentalism material relying on the use of playing cards. I feel that it is important for me to explain that I have never ever had any problem with the use of playing cards in my performance of mentalism and it is clear to me that my audiences regard them as ordinary objects and are familiar with...

The hunt to find the true identity of S. W. Erdnase, the author of The Expert at the Card Table, published in 1902 in Chicago, has been raging for more than a century. The book is as revered by gamblers and magicians as the Bible is by Christians.

One of the first and most active Erdnase hunters was well-known science writer, puzzle expert, and magician Martin Gardner, who erroneously thought he identified cardsharp and murderer Milton Franklin Andrews as being Erdnase. After Andrews, many other candidates were proposed, but none had a case strong enough to withstand scrutiny. None wrote like Erdnase, nor had sufficient opportunity, nor even...

Terri Rogers
Star Gate by Terri Rogers

An incredible effect based on a topological principle. Two cards are shown glued back to back. The spectator may examine them as there is nothing to find.

The performer takes the cards, gives them a few deft folds and then hands them back to the spectator ... but now the cards are face to face. It looks impossible because the cards are still glued together. What's more, they are the same cards that the spectator handled earlier. There is no switch of any kind.

You won't believe it yourself the first time you perform it.

[Note: Originally this booklet was supplied with a Jumbo cards already prepared and glued together. This ebook comes without a set of glued cards. However, the ebook has clear explanation of the construction. You can prepare a set from regular cards with a knife and tape in a few minutes.

1st edition 1985, 1st digital edition 2013, 11 pages.

[Below is a demonstration where the two cards are oriented in the same direction and not 90 degree rotated like Terri has originally designed it. The advantage of a 90 degree offset is that the card that is folded can at one time be seen partly from the front and partly from the back which is a very magical moment. This moment is missing from this version.]
